Inside the Grand Palais, constructed to a deteriorating
theater, the Chanel Haute Couture show had occurred. Providing a magical
backdrop, the cinematic experience ensued. Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, was a key influence in the show. Opera music blasted
while models adorned the exquisite ensembles Karl Lagerfeld had so creatively
fashioned. Shimmering sequins, mirrors, woven tweeds, and sheen constructed the
pieces. What was most surprising was the wearability of the collection, turning
the famous woven jackets into day-appropriate elements. Manipulating volume,
necklines, and layers, Karl had created "tradition with future." Chanel
Couture closely resembles a vivid dream, played out with .creativity, beauty,
and imagination
